A cruise ship has destroyed a pier and sunk a number of boats in Italy as it pulled away from shore, sending a massive wake across the harbour.
The devastation was caught on video, showing a concrete pier being lifted up and overturned by the foaming water.
The Carnival Vista had created prop wash from its thrusters as it left its berth at Messina, Sicily, the Maritime Executive reports.
The port authority has opened an investigation into the incident, local media says.
