An American mother and daughter couple are facing incest charges after becoming legally married.
Patricia Ann Spann, 43, and her daughter, Misty Velvet Dawn Spann, 25, were wed in March 2015 in Comanche County, Oklahoma, according to court records.
It's not even the first time Patricia married one of her offspring; investigators found she tied the knot with a son in 2008, before he filed for annulment 15 months later citing "incest".
In Oklahoma, marriage to a close relative is legally considered incest, regardless of whether the couple are engaging with each other sexually.
Patricia told police she didn't think it was illegal to marry who they say is her biological daughter because her name is no longer listed on the birth certificate.
She had been separated from her children as a young mother and only came into contact with her daughter two years ago, Patricia told police.
They immediately "hit it off", she also told them, although it is unclear what motivated the marriage.
Patricia and Misty each face up to ten years in prison if convicted.
