New York City's JFK International Airport was evacuated on Sunday (local time) after reports of multiple shots fired near the departure area.
Local authorities say their investigation is continuing, but they can't find evidence of any shooting.
"Preliminary investigation does not indicate shots were fired at JFK," the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said in a statement.
"At this time, no gun shells or other evidence of shots fired has been found. The terminal was evacuated out of an abundance of caution. There is substantial PAPD and NYPD presence at JFK and LGA."
The shots were reportedly fired in Terminal 8 of the airport, near the American Airlines area. The NYPD told CBS News calls came in at 8:34pm local time.
More reports of shots fired at Terminal 1 came through at around 10:15pm local time.
The terminals have been evacuated and the airport is at a security ground stop. Roads have been closed off in the vicinity of the airport.
A passenger tweeted: "Panic at JFK. They're closing the gates at security - possible shooter."
