A schoolgirl has shot and wounded a classmate before killing herself at a high school in Texas.
Brewster County Sheriff Ronny Dodson said the injured Alpine High School student fled from the scene before receiving treatment for a wound that wasn't deemed life-threatening.
Following the attack, the shooter then took her own life.
A police officer was also wounded in the melee after being accidentally shot in the leg by a marshal, Dodson said.
One of the injuries occurred in the school's band hall, while another was in a bathroom, according to Brewster County Attorney J. Steve Houston.
The identities of those involved in the shooting have not yet been released.
