A New Yorker has been charged by police after he ram-raided his neighbour's home to save their dog from a fire that he had imagined while high on hallucinogens.
Forty-three-year-old Michael Orchard drove his BMW through a fence and ploughed down their back door to rescue the pup from the flames - flames which he later discovered didn't actually exist.
New York state troopers say Orchard had experienced the hallucinations after taking a powerful amalgamation of cough syrup and LSD.
It's obvious the blazing inferno Orchard conjured up in his mind fooled him into thinking there was a crisis pressing enough to bash his way into his neighbour's home and save the large white dog inside.
But however well-intentioned, Orchard is now facing the consequences of his actions - with police charging him with both burglary and criminal mischief.
Orchard did escape drugs charges though, as no illicit substances were found in his possession.
