Two people have been killed and another four injured in a shooting at an annual Thanksgiving football game in Louisville, Kentucky.

The four who were injured suffered non-life-threatening injuries and have been taken to hospital after the shooting on Thursday (local time).

Local police are searching for possible suspects.

Louisville Metro Police Department spokesperson Dwight Mitchell told media he was saddened by the tragic event.

"We've had over 100 homicides in our city... It is a day to be thankful and we're thankful that more people were not hurt."

People were at the park for the annual 'Juice Bowl' Thanksgiving football game for youths. It has since been cancelled.
