A spokesman for George W Bush has denied the former President voted for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump in the US elections.
The announcement comes amid reports Mr Bush and his wife, Laura, had voted for Mrs Clinton, adding to the list of Republican leaders who have shunned Mr Trump.
On Tuesday (US time) radio host Rush Limbaugh claimed Mr Bush voted against his party due to "personal" factors.
"I'm told that George W Bush and Laura Bush voted for Hillary Clinton today," Mr Limbaugh said.
"On one level, it's personal. Remember what Trump said about Jeb [Bush, George's brother and failed candidate for the Republican nomination]. And Trump has had some unkind things to say about George W Bush.
"But aside from that, think about party loyalty, think about issues, think about the direction of the country. How does anybody vote for Hillary Clinton?"
Mr Bush's spokesperson said the couple voted two weeks ago - and didn't vote for either of the two major party candidates.
