A 29-year-old New Zealander has been arrested after being caught up in a drug smuggling bust amounting to more than $54 million. 

Australian police discovered 90 litres of liquid methamphetamine on a boat in northern Sydney last Friday.

Three Chinese men who were found on-board were also arrested in the bust as well as a Taiwanese man.

The Daily Mail reports five men have been charged with the importation and possession of a commercial quantity of border-controlled drugs.

Authorities also arrested three other Chinese men in Queensland on Sunday who have been charged with with aiding and abetting the importation of a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug.

The arrests come after a joint operation between Australian and Chinese authorities.
