6.7 Indonesian quake rattles north Australia

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.7 has struck off the coast of Indonesia.

The quake struck in the Banda Sea near East Timor at a depth of 151km at 9.17am local Indonesian time. 

It was felt widely across northern Australia, including strongly in Darwin.

No tsunami warning has been triggered by the earthquake.
