A Queensland man handed in to police what he believed was a breast implant and evidence of a homicide, only to be told it was a jellyfish.

The concerned citizen handed in the 'implant' sealed in a bag to Maroochydore Station on the Sunshine coast last Friday. He believed the owner may have been murdered, or drowned.

However, Queensland police said in a statement that the man's discovery was much less suspicious.

"Investigations revealed what police suspected… the item was indeed a jellyfish."

Surf Life Saving Queensland told the BBC the creature appeared to be a blubber jellyfish, commonly found in Queensland. Its sting is known to be painful, but not dangerous.

The jellyfish likely resembled a breast implant as it may have had its tentacles knocked off or eaten.
