Photo-sharing app Instagram has just released its most snapped locations of 2016, and the most popular place by far is New York.
The top 20 are defined by pictures shared on the social network that were geo-tagged during the year. There's a variety of spectacular sites featured in the results, but the city that never sleeps dominates with six winning locations.

Instagram passed the 500 million users mark in June this year. More than 40 billion photos have been shared and seventy-five percent of users are based outside the US.
