CCTV footage has been released showing the moment a woman in the UK was kidnapped by three men and assaulted, before being forced to give them money.

The incident happened in the early hours of September 19 in Manchester, but the video was released on Tuesday morning (NZT) in hopes people may recognise the attackers.

The woman was abducted by the men at about 12:30am (local time), who covered her face with a cloth and took her into the back of their panelled van.

They struck her repeatedly in the face in an attempt to stop her screaming, and reports suggest she was threatened with being thrown in a local canal.

They then drove her to a pub in the suburb of Astley, where they made her hand them a significant amount of cash before abandoning her.

Police say she was left "fearing for her life" and have now requested the help of people who may have witnessed the incident or know the men involved.
