More than 20,000 civilians have left eastern Aleppo today according to the Russian Ministry of Defence.
Tens of thousands have fled their homes in the past week as Syrian government forces close in on the remaining rebel-held districts.
In addition to the exit of these civilians, it has been reported that the Syrian Arab Army has accepted the surrender of over 1200 militants originally fighting their forces in east Aleppo.
The Syrian Arab Army has allegedly halted offensive operations - however, sporadic fighting in eastern Aleppo is still occurring.
