Doctors in Vietnam have removed a six-inch pair of scissors accidently left inside a man's abdomen for 18 years.
The 54-year-old patient was involved in a road accident in December, and medical testing showed the sharp metal utensils next to his stomach.
They were successfully removed following a three-hour operation. The surgeon who carried out the procedure said the handles had become so rusty, they had become attached to nearby organs.
The man says they may have been mistakenly left inside him during a 1998 operation - which followed another road accident.
