A cat trapped in a garage door has escaped death thanks to the quick thinking of the local community.
On Wednesday (local time) a Louisiana deputy received word a cat - named Bella - was caught in a tight spot.
"A cat had been stuck between a garage door of a residence and the wall," said Deputy Mike Scott.
"Never in all of my years was I prepared to encounter what I saw upon my arrival."
He arrived to find the local community - including construction workers - had gathered to free the poor animal.
"The neighbours were very helpful as we cautiously removed the upper frame moulding that allowed some space for us to remove the cat," he said.
"With a joint effort with neighbours we were able to remove the cat alive."
The homeowner arrived soon afterwards and was shocked to see the drama in his backyard.
He said he had left to pick up some supplies, and Bella must have been sleeping on the garage door and he hadn't seen her when he'd left.
Fortunately she suffered only minor bruising - but they both learned an important lesson about appropriate places for cats to sleep.
