Intruder caught sleeping in Melbourne home

Melbourne police are on the hunt for an intruder who threatened people with a knife after being found sleeping in their bed.

In a story reminiscent of a dark Goldilocks, the inhabitants of the house in the suburb of Donvale came across the man sleeping in their bed when they arrived home 11am on Thursday, December 29.

However, the bed wasn't in its usual place - he'd dragged it into the living room.

He was snuggled under a duvet and when woken, he threatened the people with a knife and then fled.

Victoria Police say nobody was injured and nothing was stolen.

They say the man is described as being in his early 20s, "perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance", with a script tattoo on the left side of his chest.
