Lucky escape for man trapped in dam by fallen digger

An Australian man has had a lucky escape after being trapped for more than two hours in a dam under a 3.5 tonne excavator.

Daniel Miller was working on his New South Wales farm when the machine rolled into the dam, pinning him underneath.

The 45-year-old's nose was barely out of the water, and he would have drowned if the digger moved or if it had rained.

Mr Miller called for help and was eventually found by a neighbour.

The rural fire service pumped water out of the dam so that he could be moved.

He suffered from a sore back and a chill.
