Newspaper uses photo of Alec Baldwin instead of Trump

Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump next to the Israeli Prime Minister

A Dominican newspaper has accidentally posted a picture of Alec Baldwin doing his impression of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live in place of a photo of the actual US President.

Newspaper El Nacional published an article on Friday (local time) about the relationship status between the United States and Israel, placing the picture of Baldwin next to a photo of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The newspaper was forced to apologise the next day for the mix-up.

The photo "was placed as if it were the one of Trump", the paper wrote. "El Nacional apologises to the readers and to all those who felt affected by the publication."

Baldwin has played Trump on the NBC late-night show since the premiere of Season 42.

The accident was a treat for social media users, who took to Twitter to joke about the switch.
