Cheeky child steals Pope Francis' skullcap

A child has broken the commandment "thou shalt not steal" – right in front of the big man.

Three-year-old Estella gave everyone a laugh when was being held up to meet Pope Francis at the Vatican on Wednesday morning (local time), before cheekily swiping his white skullcap straight from his head.

Catholic blogger Mountain Butorac, posted the footage of his goddaughter online. He took Estella’s family to the pope’s weekly audience while they were visiting him in Rome, Italy.

He told Huffington Post everyone in the crowd found the moment "hilarious".

The video of Pope Francis laughing along with the spectators has gone viral, and has been retweeted more than 10,00 times.

Mr Butorac said he loved the fact "that people are getting a chance to see a clip from the Holy Father in a fun situation."

"The news is all so toxic lately," he added. "It’s nice to have something light and fun!"
