An American teenager who threw her newborn daughter out of an apartment window has been sentenced to 50 hours of community service.
Antonia Lopez, 16, will also receive therapy as part of her sentence after she pleaded guilty to the charge of child abuse resulting in death following the incident in September last year.
But, because of her age, the charge was downgraded and moved to a juvenile court where the judge said Lopez' actions were a "panicked reaction" instead of planned.
According to the New York Post, Lopez sent a Snapchat to her boyfriend afterwards saying "it was a girl by the way".
An autopsy revealed the newborn suffered bleeding near her skull, brain, spine and abdomen.
Lopez was facing a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison if her original charge was upheld.
