One woman has done her bit to restore faith in humanity after coming to the rescue of a young girl in need of a plane ticket.

A man and his daughter were checking in for a flight when it became clear the daughter - whom her dad believed was able to fly for free - needed a ticket.

The dad, in a state of panic, mentioned he couldn't afford to rebook his own ticket, or fork out the $749 for the child's flight.

An onlooker described what happened next, sharing it with the Love What Matters page on Facebook.

"He stepped aside and tried to make a few calls. Hugging his daughter and grabbing his head, you could tell he was heartbroken," the anonymous person wrote.

Cue kind stranger, who had been watching the incident unfold.

The woman talked with the father about his situation and escorted him to the counter so she could pay for the two-year-old's ticket.

She whipped her credit card out after being reminded how much the flight would cost, even refusing repayment by keeping her personal details anonymous.

The travel agent was overheard saying the display of generosity gave her "goosebumps".

It's not clear from the Facebook post when or where the kind gesture took place.
