A photo of a naked woman in a butcher's cabinet with meat cuts drawn on her body is causing a stir online.

Photographer Kym Illman took the photo after-hours at a local meat shop in Lancelin, Western Australia.

While the photo's been shared more than 200 times since it was posted on Thursday, it's drawing a mixed response.

"This is totally offensive on two issues. Degradation to women and health and safety. I will never support this business again on principal," one Facebook user posted.

Others suggested she was likely trying to create a talking point for vegetarianism.

Mr Illman told the North Coast Times it was the model who suggested drawing the cuts on her body.

He said the local butcher cleaned the cabinet afterwards.
