Driver escapes law by drawing own parking lines

Officials realised the lines weren't legit pretty quickly (supplied)

A Chinese man's found a cheeky solution to his city's lack of parking spaces - paint his own.

Traffic cops in Jinhua, Zhejiang were confused when they found strange markings spraypainted on the road, the Qianjiang Evening News reported.

They didn't appear to be legitimate parking spaces - too thin and messy - so decided to check out surveillance footage of the area.

In it they saw a man wearing an orange shirt park his van, get out and paint the markings himself.

The man was seen on security camera painting the lines himself (supplied)

He'd gotten away with it for four days before police swooped in. He now faces a fine between $100 and $1000, the paper reported.
