A news report from Florida claiming a Kiwi woman had been killed by an alligator is a cruel hoax.
The website, Florida Sun Post, appears to be a genuine news site, but has been linked to false reports.
The story had claimed the New Zealander was trying to take a selfie at a nature trail, when the alligator had attacked her from behind.
The area the false report referred to is part of the University of West Florida's campus.
