A vegan mother who wanted a 'toxin-free' life for her children has been ordered to get them vaccinated by a UK High Court judge.
"I am truly sorry that the mother will regard the decision as wrong, but my objective duty is clear," Judge Mark Rogers said.
The boys, aged two and four, will now be immunised against diseases like diphtheria, polio, meningitis, measles, mumps and rubella, reports The Independent.
The mother told the court she feeds her children only "natural products" and her children's bodies "are as free of toxins as I can possibly make them".
"Both children are thriving and have strong immune systems, which definitely helps in protecting them from diseases," she argued.
"No vaccine is vegan. No doctor will criticise the actions of a vaccine or he or she will be afraid of losing their job.
"It is not natural to be injected with metal elements, and as a vegan it goes against my beliefs for my children to be injected with something that is grown on animal cells or something that has been tested on animals."
However the children's father disagreed, and described the mother as "obsessive, over-protective and narrow in her views" with "a suspicion of conventional medicinal methods".
Judge Rogers said the mother had failed to get a doctor to appear in court to support her anti-vaccination views.
"I have serious concerns as to [the mother's] ability to look objectively and even-handedly," he said, ruling against her.
