Video captures shark feeding frenzy in New South Wales

Video has emerged of sharks lingering close to the shore of a beach in Australia searching for food.

The drone footage posted to YouTube by Damian Hurley shows a giant school of fish moving into Fingal Bay in New South Wales, which forced the closure of the beach while the sharks feasted.

The video has been viewed more than 30,000 times.

As many as eight sharks can be seen in the water while scores of people look on from the beach including many children.

Despite forcing people out of the water, the stunning video shows fish swimming for their lives as the sharks lunge and attempt to gobble up some lunch.

Shark sightings have been frequent in coastal areas of Australia recently. One man suffered injuries to his leg after an attack nearby in Port Stephens last month.

The Department of Primary Industries has closed the beach to swimmers until further notice and says it is monitoring the bay daily.
