IS Tinder: Kiwi jihadi looking for love

  • 02/05/2017

The Kiwi man known as Muhammad Daniel or Abu Abdul-Rahman is looking for love.

Mark Taylor, a self-confessed jihadist, is currently fighting for the so-called Islamic State (IS) in Syria and has reportedly had a profile on the dating website islamicmarriage.com.

Mr Taylor wrote on his profile that he wanted his future wife to live with him in the IS declared capital, Raqqa in northern Syria.

"I need a righteous practicing Muslim lady who wants to [immigrate] here inshallah," he wrote.

Mr Taylor, who has been in the Middle East fighting for IS since 2014, also wrote that he has a good sense of humour and an understanding about married life.

The profile has since been taken down after it was exposed by an American news network.

The website claims to be a five-star dating program that is the safest and "most enjoyable Muslim dating site in the world."

In March 2017, Mr Taylor was finally classified by the United States as a terrorist despite being on the GCSB's [Government Communications Security Bureau's] watchlist for some time.

If Mr Taylor was to return to New Zealand, he would be detained immediately and even faces deportation to New Zealand if he is caught in Syria.
