Mass punch-up explodes at Sydney wedding

A Sydney wedding reception has descended into chaos after a man allegedly groped a number of women, sparking a brawl that involved dozens of guests.

Mathew Carione and Rebecca Becvarovska's wedding, which was held at the glitzy Albert Palais Theatre in the suburb of Leichhardt, hosted 200 people - and about 30 of those are thought to have been involved in the fight.

The all-in punch-up is reported to have started at about 10pm, and eventually spilled out into the street before it was halted by police.

The groom's mother, Zorica Carione, said the groper had been inappropriately touching her and other women - including the best man's girlfriend - with a security guard saying about 12 men chased the groper outside and across the road from the venue.

During the fracas, one man was head-butted in the nose and the best man was arrested for being aggressive towards police, according to reports.

Police only made one arrest, but there could be more to come after CCTV footage of the incident is reviewed.

The bride and groom are said to have been largely unaware of the fracas, and have now departed for their honeymoon.
