Truck erupts in flames after motorbike crash

CCTV footage has captured the moment a motorcyclist crashed into dump truck's cab, causing it to become engulfed in flames and putting three lives at instant risk in east China.

Video of the incident, which occurred on Saturday night (local time), captured Jiangxi resident Mr Chen failing to stop in time for the truck in front of him, presumably stopping too late.

Mr Chen careened into the space between the truck's cab and its storage area, which was unfortunately where the vehicle's fuel tank was located.

The truck immediately went up in flames, and panic set in as the motorcyclist and the two occupants of the vehicle attempted to save themselves.

Truck driver Yang Juyong and his workmate managed to escape the truck's cab, which was already being consumed by the fire, out the passenger door, and came round the front to provide aid for the motorcyclist.

Mr Chen can be seen rolling around on the ground in an attempt to extinguish the flames that had found their way onto his trouser pants, and the two men ran to him and dragged him away from the truck and to safety.

The fire service was called and they reportedly put the flames out in 40 minutes, while Mr Chen was taken to hospital with injuries authorities say weren't life-threatening.

An investigation into the incident has found that Mr Chen was travelling too fast, which is why he failed to stop for the truck.
