A drunk driver in the US has been caught on camera soaring over a hill and into a forest after veering off the road while intoxicated.
In alarming footage of the build-up to the crash, which is believed to have happened in South Carolina, the driver can be seen swerving all over the highway and spending extended periods on the wrong side of the road. His careless driving forces cars coming in the opposite direction to swerve out of his way.
For lengthy stretches, the beige sedan also drives completely off the road, cruising along the grass on either side of the highway - and on many occasions it appears as though he'll crash.
However, the joyride continues for at least the three-and-a-half minutes, the car somehow avoiding a collision - until he fails to adequately turn a corner.
Speeding off the road, the car drives down a small hill before flying off a bump at the bottom, which catapults it into a tree - the vehicle then dropping to the ground with a sickening thud.
Emergency services were said to have arrived at the scene about three minutes after the video stopped.
A medical official said the driver is "extremely lucky" to be alive. She added he was taken to hospital and is in a stable condition.
