Mosque crowd attacked in Paris, no one hurt

A man was arrested for trying to drive a car into a crowd in front of a mosque in the Paris suburb of Creteil on Thursday (local time).

Police say no one on was injured during the incident.

The Armenian man was unsuccessful in his attempts to reach the crowd because of barriers in front of the mosque police said in a statement.

According to newspaper Le Parisien, his motives were to avenge the attacks linked to Islamic State in Paris in recent times.

Police said he wanted to "avenge the Bataclan and the Champs-Elysees" terror attacks, the paper said.

An investigation in to the incident will be carried out by police rather than an anti-terror unit.
