Incredible new video footage has emerged of the moment a female Kurdish sniper is narrowly missed by an Islamic State (IS) gunman, reacting by laughing and poking out her tongue.
The video of the shootout between IS and the Women's Protections Unit (YPG) was shared on Twiter by journalist Hemze Hamza.
As a female sniper peers over a ledge inside a building in Raqqa, Syria, a shot is fired by an IS enemy.
The bullet comes scarily close to her head, ricocheting off the side of the wall, but her surprising reaction has captivated social media.
Instead of appearing scared, she laughs to her fellow soldiers and pokes her tongue out at another. She then casually continues her conversation as if nothing happened.
Mr Hamza, a journalist, tweeted: "Sniper battle inside Raqqa city. Thank god the ISIS [another name for IS] terrorist missed".
"Kurdish women know no fear. Your average human being would be scared for life after being so close to death but she kept laughing."
The YPG is the armed unit of the Democratic Union Party in Syria, and has around 7000 members.
