New Zealand has been battered with rain, snow and wind this week - but that's nothing compared to a video of China that's emerging online.

On Thursday evening (local time) Chengdu, in the Sichuan province, was hit by winds so strong glass doors can be seen smashing in, with debris and dust blowing inside.

On the street a street a webcam captures shaky footage of what appears to be a power pole exploding in the distance. Heavy traffic continues, albeit slowly, as the gale-force winds hitting the area.

Trees are seen being stripped of their branches by the wind.

The video was posted by Shanghaiist, calling it "one heck of a storm". Facebook users took to the comments section to share their own experiences and videos.

In New Zealand, several roads remain closed and thousands of homes are without electricity.
