The traditional wedding flower arrangement now has a sugary alternative.

Paige Kirk, 23, from Sydney, surprised her guests and bridesmaids with bouquets of donuts instead of flowers.

The bride told the BBC, "Me and my husband Steve thought it would be different, fun and light hearted."

The bouquets were donated by Dessert Boxes, a company which makes creative alternatives to typical flower gifts, including a Nutella and Smirnoff donut box.

"Everyone thought it was hilarious, and the venue couldn't believe it."

She said she wanted the wedding to be a bit different, and that brides should be a bit more relaxed and have fun.

"We wanted to the wedding to be a bit different and really reflect who we are as a couple."
