The pure power of Hurricane Irma has been captured in its full intensity thanks to footage from the International Space Station.
In spectacular video from the station as it passed over the storm on Wednesday (NZ time), the storm can be seen in its entirety from outside the Earth's atmosphere.

Jet blast-force wins have been felt throughout the Caribbean as Irma shifts across the Atlantic Ocean towards the US, with communication completely cut off in Barbuda.
The hurricane has been dubbed the most powerful Atlantic storm ever, and is anticipated to make landfall in Florida on Saturday.
It'll be the second major tropical storm to strike the US in just over a fortnight after Hurricane Harvey hit Texas, killing more than 60 people and causing damages as high as $250 billion.
