A man has been trampled to death by an elephant after trying to take a selfie with the wild animal in eastern India.
He had reportedly been drinking alcohol before approaching the elephant and when he went to take the photo with it, he was charged at.
While trying to flee he tripped and fell over before the elephant ran him over and significantly injured him.
An ambulance took the man to hospital where he was later pronounced dead by doctors.
A forest official said rangers were trying to rescue the elephant because it had become separated from its herd.
"Forest officials were trying to chase the elephant back to the herd when Bharti came too close to the animal to take a selfie."
"The animal was nervous as it had strayed away from his family and when the man came too close to it, the elephant ... attacked him."
