A different kind of suspect has been apprehended in Cambridgeshire, England.

A rogue swan was found on a motorway and police were called after the public became concerned for its wellbeing.

In a scene described as akin to the 2007 movie Hot Fuzz, officers were able to apprehend the swan and contain it in the back of a police car.

The movie Hot Fuzz featured scenes where officers played by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost were tasked with catching a swan and then releasing it, after a short trip in a police car.

The Cambridgeshire officers posted photos of the hapless bird on Twitter using the hashtags #HotFuzz and #NoSwansWereHarmed.

The RSPCA was called and the bird was checked for any signs of injury but none were found.

The swan was then released into a river away from danger.
