San Francisco might be far, far away from Dagobah, but if a photo in a Saudi Arabian textbook is to be believed, Yoda made a small stop there in 1945.

The textbook features a historic photo of Saudi Arabian King Faisal signing the United Nations charter in 1945. Somehow Yoda has appeared, sitting next to him and watching proceedings.

Nobody is quite sure how the photo managed to make its way into the textbook - even the artist who created the image is confused.

Speaking to the New York Times, Riyadh artist Abdullah Al Shehri said: "I am the one who designed it, but I am not the one who put it in the book."

On Thursday (NZ Time) the Saudi Education Minister apologised on twitter for the "unintended mistake".

"The ministry has begun printing a corrected copy of the curriculum and withdrawing the previous copy and formed a legal committee to determine the source of the error and to take the proper measures," he wrote.
