Passengers on a recent flight landing in Dusseldorf may have been frightened when the plane was sent careening across the runway while trying to land in crosswinds.

The video of an Airbus A380, the world's largest passenger airliner, struggling to land in Dusseldorf has gone viral, with more than 3 million views on YouTube.

At first the plane appears to be landing normally, but just after the wheels touch the ground, the plane suddenly turns and starts heading to the edge of the runway.

The tail rudder can be seen swinging to right the plane as it swerves across the tarmac.

Comments on the video are divided as to the cause of bumpy landing, with some commenters applauding the pilots for remaining in control, and others saying the disturbance is actually due to pilot error.

One commenter is less interested in why plane behaved the way it did, simply saying, "I always wondered if you could drift an A380..."
