Chelsea Clinton, Ivanka Trump calling for media to leave Malia Obama alone

Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump are among those calling for the media to leave Malia Obama alone after a video of the 19-year-old blowing smoke rings was leaked online.

In the past week, TMZ has reported on Malia's smoking, as well as her kissing a boy at a college football game.

"Malia Obama's private life, as a young woman, a college student, a private citizen, should not be your clickbait. Be better," wrote Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former US President Bill Clinton and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

"Malia Obama should be allowed the same privacy as her school aged peers. She is a young adult and private citizen, and should be OFF limits," shared Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump and Melania Trump.

Malia, the eldest daughter of former US President Barack Obama, has repeatedly come under scrutiny for what many are calling regular college student behaviour.

Others have noted Malia appears to be under more scrutiny than US Republican politician Roy Moore, who has been accused of initiating a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl.
