A woman in China was almost killed because she was distracted by her smartphone.
Surveillance footage shows the woman wandering through the carpark of a hospital in Jiangsu province, staring at her phone screen. She can be seen walking into the building's car elevator, narrowly missing being hit by a car exiting the lift.
It's only when the lift floor starts to descend that the woman looks up and realises her mistake, looking around and raising her arms in confusion.
When the lift reaches the next level down another car drives in, knocking the woman to the ground. She could have been killed if a security guard had not heard her cries for help and pressed the elevator's emergency stop button, according to Nine News.
The woman was taken to hospital with leg injuries, and is now in a stable condition.
