A young photographer was asked to take maternity pictures for a pregnant woman, only to have the offer retracted when she said she was gay.

Faith Grace, a 21-year-old from Alabama, was approached, via text, by a mother-of-one to do a maternity shoot. The pregnant woman asked Ms Grace why her personal Instagram page featured a photo of an LGBT pride flag, to which Ms Grace replied that she was a lesbian.

The woman texted back that she would be retracting the job offer, because she "[didn't] want someone who's gay to take my pictures".

"It's just not right," she wrote. "I'm against it and the last thing I need is to allow my five-year-old child to think that being gay is OK/right, because I don't want them to be influenced by people like you."

She finished the text by saying that she was "sorry that you think that this lifestyle is OK and acceptable".

Ms Grace posted a screenshot of their conversation to Twitter, where it was retweeted more than 38,000 times, reports Mail Online.

"A lady texted me asking to take her maternity photos then she decided to find another photographer because I'm gay," her caption read.

"RT & share this to show people that hatred & discrimination still exists & it NEEDS to stop. This breaks my heart."
