A first grade student has blown her teacher away with their response to a riddle he posted on the whiteboard.
It wasn't the answer the teacher had in mind - it considerably more complex, and it's had a huge response on Twitter.
At Head-Royce school in California, teacher Bret Turner wrote this Puzzle of the Week on the whiteboard:
"I am the beginning of everything, the end of everywhere. I'm the beginning of eternity, the end of time & space. What am I?"
Mr Turner said the first guess one of his young students was "death".
"Such an awed, somber, reflective hush fell over the class that I didn't want to tell them that actually the answer is the letter e, which just seemed so banal in the moment," Mr Turner said on Twitter.
"Before I finally revealed the "correct" answer to the riddle, to a largely unimpressed audience, I fielded other guesses that continued along a similarly existential vein. There was "NOT everything," "all stuff," "the end," and maybe my favorite, "nothingthing," Mr Turner said.
