Twelve people were injured and one killed on board the balloon, which crash-landed after being forced off-course by strong winds.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to Newshub four Kiwis were involved, but says none are seriously injured.

"The New Zealand embassy in Cairo is providing consular assistance to four New Zealanders affected."
