Donald Trump wants sharks wiped off the face of the Earth, it has been claimed.

In an interview with his alleged mistress Stormy Daniels, published in full on Friday (US time) she describes his obsession with the ocean-dwelling predators.

"We had dinner once again in his room," Daniels told In Touch Weekly.

"I had swordfish that time. Once again, no alcohol. The strangest thing about that night - this was the best thing ever. You could see the television from the little dining room table and he was watching Shark Week and he was watching a special about the USS. something and it sank and it was like the worst shark attack in history.

"He is obsessed with sharks. Terrified of sharks. He was like, 'I donate to all these charities and I would never donate to any charity that helps sharks. I hope all the sharks die.'

"He was like riveted. He was like obsessed."

Her claims are backed up by old tweets by the US President, In 2013 he said sharks were "last" on his list, "other than perhaps the losers and haters of this world".

"Sorry folks, I'm just not a fan of sharks," he wrote.

Only a few people die each year in shark attacks worldwide.

Mr Trump also allegedly told her he's stuck with the same distinctive hairstyle for years because "he thought that if he cut his hair or changed it, that he would lose his power and his wealth".

Mr Trump and his legal team have denied the affair happened, despite reports he paid Ms Daniels US$130,000 in hush money before the 2016 election, and photographs of the pair together.

The interview was conducted in 2011, but published in full for the first time on Friday (US time).

Earlier this month, a joke that Mr Trump liked watching a TV channel devoted to gorilla fights fooled many.
