Haunting final video on board doomed New York helicopter

Video has emerged of the passengers on board the helicopter that crashed into New York City's East River.

Five people were killed in the crash while one, the pilot, swam to safety and was rescued.

The helicopter had been privately chartered for a photoshoot, according to officials.

Trevor Cadigan, 26, posted a video to his Instagram story of himself and two other passengers looking excited as the helicopter took off.

The footage shows the men giving a thumbs up before the camera is turned to show the New York City skyline.

Mr Cadigan was among the five who died in the crash. The other victims have been named as Daniel Thompson, 34, Tristan Hill, 29, Brian McDaniel, 26, and Carla Vallejos Blanco, 29.

Richard Vance, who piloted the ill-fated flight, reportedly told investigators a passenger's bag may have struck the helicopter's emergency fuel shutoff button.
