A passenger was removed from a Spanish flight after screaming racial abuse at an attendant.

Witnesses say the man was aboard the plane headed from North Tenerife to La Palma when he hurled racist abuse at the flight attendant, reports The Daily Mail.

It's reported he yelled "I don't want blacks around me" before the flight attendant instructed him to take his bags and leave the plane.

He refused and the captain became involved, also asking him to leave.

When the man refused again, the captain asked for help from the local Civil Guard and two officers boarded the plane to collect him.

He protested briefly, but then collected his belongings and left the plane.

The airline, Spanish regional operator Binter Canarias, has now filed a complaint against the man.

In a tweet the airline said it would not allow such behaviour and will support any crew who face it.

"From Binter we want to express our utmost rejection and outrage at behaviours of this type and show our full support to our crews who constantly strive to provide the best service to our customers," it said.
