A teenager from Newcastle, England, gave birth to a baby after believing she was experiencing severe period pains, reports the Daily Mail.

Charlotte Thompson was 19 years old when she woke one night with excruciating stomach pains.

Charlotte said: "I took some paracetamol and hoped that it would blow over.

"Instead, the pain just got worse and I was in agony.

"An hour later I felt like I was going to be sick so I ran to the toilet and saw that my underwear was full of blood.

"I had just finished my period so I was really scared.

"I knew something was seriously wrong and booked a taxi to the hospital."

At the hospital, a nurse performed an ultrasound, and told her she was due to have a baby within hours.

"I couldn't believe it as my belly was completely flat.

"I was so worried about what my parents would say when they found out that I was having a baby."

At 4.30am, a nurse called Charlotte's parents to reveal she was about to give birth.

Thompson says she had regular periods throughout her nine-month pregnancy, and a flat stomach.

Over her pregnancy, she says she put on just over one kilogram and found herself feeling more tired than usual.

Thompson's daughter Molly weighed nearly seven pounds and was perfectly healthy, despite Thompson drinking throughout her pregnancy. She is now two years old.
