A two-year-old girl has lost her life after a mirror fell on her head while she was out shopping with her mother.

The horror incident occurred as toddler Ifrah Siddique tried on shoes in a Payless store in Georgia, US just after 8pm on Saturday (local time).

After the full-length mirror fell forcefully on her head, Ifrah was rushed to the nearby Southern Regional Medical Centre, where she later died.

Ifrah's father, Moshin Siddique, told Fox News he now feels "dead" inside.

"I am no more," he said through tears. "That was my little girl."

A witness told the news agency she heard a crash and Ifrah's mother screaming.

"Everybody was crowded around the door. It was just tragic," Latisha Culpatrick said.

"I'm sure the mom didn't think when she was coming in to go shopping she wouldn't come out with her child. That's bad - really bad."

Payless has since extended its "deepest sympathies" to Ifrah's family during their time of "incredible loss".

"We are devastated by this tragic event and are fully cooperating with authorities to reach and understand the nature of this accident," it said in a statement.
