Aussie police under more scrutiny as second 'beating' video surfaces

Another video of a brutal Australian police arrest has surfaced online, showing a young man being punched and kicked in the head while restrained.

The 23-year-old was reportedly having a psychotic episode when he was subject to a beating from multiple officers after an attempted robbery at a store in Preston in February 2016.

The man was wielding scissors and had already been restrained when police arrived and began kicking and punching him, Fairfax reports.

It follows another brutal video which emerged earlier this week, showing Melbourne police officers beating up a disabled pensioner and spraying him with capsicum spray in his home in September last year.

Victoria's anti-corruption commission are investigating that incident, which was caught on CCTV.

Regarding the video which surfaced from 2016, the police Professional Standards Command told Fairfax it had reviewed the incident and no sanctions were handed down.
